Q. I just purchased a new book, and I would like to know why the CD-rom it contains has only Chapter 1.

A. The CD in your textbook is only a demo disc. The full version of Conceptual Chemistry Alive! covering the first 12 chapters of the textbook consists of 12 CD-roms, which are housed in a small box. Instructors are able to special order this box of CCAlive! CDs bundled with the textbook. In cases where this bundle has not been ordered, the student has the option of purchasing the full set of 12 discs through the order page of this website.

Q. I have new CD's that came with registration card with a serial number. How do I get my activation code and how long will it last?

A. You can mail in the postage-paid registration card in or go to the registration page of ConceptChem.com to receive your activation code online. You do not need to mail the card in if you register online. Depending on where you purchased your CD set, your license will last for 6 months, 12 months, or unlimited use. This information is embedded in your serial number.

Q. Is it cheaper to buy a used textbook and purchase a new set of CDs with license?

A. Unfortunately, used textbooks today cost nearly as much as new textbooks. This is true despite the fact that they are worn down and the codes they contain for access to the publisher's tutorial website are no longer valid. Your best deal is to buy a new textbook bundled with the CCAlive! CD-roms. In such a case, not only do you get a new textbook, but you'll find that the CD-roms plus license are greatly discounted.

Q. I'm a college student. What should I do with my CCAlive! CD-roms after the semester is over?

A. Recycle them! Ask your professor whether he or she would be willing to hold onto them until the following semester. These CDs can then be given to students who could purchase a new license and activation code online.

A. No. You must purchase your own license with activation code to register a different user name.

A. You can, but it would be best to wait until your original license is about to expire. Otherwise, your original license and your extended license will overlap.

General Information

License

The purchase of Conceptual Chemistry Alive! includes a time-dependent license. The economical 6 month license is designed for college students who typically complete this course over a single semester. The extended 12 month license is geared for secondary school students, which includes students schooled at home. The more expensive time-unlimited license is provided for departments who wish to have CCAlive! available for their students from one year to the next.

The 6 month license is obtained when the CCAlive! CD-ROMs are purchased with
a new textbook. After your original license expires, you can purchase an additional 6 month license for $24, a 12 month license for $49, or an unlimited license for $175. Purchase.

Registration

You must register the serial number printed on the card that came with Conceptual Chemistry Alive in order to gain access to Chapters 3 through 12. Upon registering you will receive an activation code, which you enter into the preferences page of Conceptual Chemistry Alive along with your chosen user name.

Your activation code is active for the duration of your license to use this product. Serial numbers are not reusable. If you obtained your CD-ROMs used, you will need to purchase a new serial number.
